Tips & Tricks on Sparkler Send Offs
Tips and Tricks to make your sparkler send off one to remember!
Yay! I am so excited the you may have decided, or are still deciding to do a sparkler send off! It’s a huge trend and honestly one of my favorites, because of the unique and timeless photos it creates.
First before we get into the tips and tricks let’s get into what a sparkler send off is…. Sparkler send offs usually happen right at the end of the night before you and your new significant other are about to leave, into the new world of being married together. Your closest friends and family get together in two rows holding sparklers above there heads while you and your new love walks under or between them kissing and enjoying the moment all together. This moment is really a timeless, memorable activity that you and your guests will always remember.
Now, we are working with fire, and fire can lead to craziness if not done properly. so lets dive into the tips and tricks to make your send off the most memorable, and easy as can be! These tips are just ones that we have witnessed or done ourselves while doing photos!
Tip #1: Make Sure your venue is ok with Sparkler Send offs!
This is the most important Even though this is a super popular, trendy thing to do, you NEED to make sure your venue is ok doing this before actually doing it. Venues take lots of time and money to keep there place as amazing as it is. So be respectful and just make sure they are ok with it or have any stipulations on sparkler send offs!
Tip #2: Buy the right Sparklers!
To make sure the photographer has enough time to capture all the photos needed, make sure you purchase the extra long sparklers. At least 20" inches. This will give the photographer approx. 3 mins and a few runs for you to go down the isle/row of your guests before the first person that lit there sparkler dies down.
Tip #3: Make sure you buy a bucket with sand in it!
For the safety of you and your guests make sure you get a bucket and fill it up with sand. Sand is better than water because it will immediately take out the flame. Water still has the chance to still be lit. Extra tip: It could be cute to have all your sparklers in the bucket with sand at the begging for a cute touch. That way at the end of the night one of your guests do not have to fill it up and make a mess as well as save time!
Tip #4: Buy Extra Long Lighters
The trick here to get as many people to light there sparkler at the same time to have the max amount of time for photos. Get an extra long lighter for every ten guests. Honestly more lighters the better. That way once a few sparklers are lit others an help others light there sparkler with there already lit sparkler. It seems like this would take a long time but I promise it works out in the end. Also make sure you have designated people that well help with lighting the sparklers. Saves lots of time.
Tip #5: Organize Organize Organize!
Have your guests be prepared for this, make sure it is on your program if you have one, this way people know to stick around longer at the end of the night. If you do not already have a Coordinator for your wedding, designate at least two people to coordinate with the photographer & Dj when everyone needs to line up. Make sure to have them stay a good distance apart so then the fire does not hit anyone. Have whoever you designate as well as the photographer line everyone up and give them there sparkler. The photographer, should take over from there and let everyone know when it’s a good time to light all the sparklers together. Then the Photographer works there amazing magic! Once done have your guest put out there sparkler as fast as they can in the sand bucket, even if they think it is out. The more communication with the photographer and the people who you coronate this with the faster, safer and easier it is going to be. Side Note: If you are worried that you will not have enough guests at the end of your night, talk to your photographer or someone uncharge of the schedule to see if it could fit at an earlier time! Its ok! you want as many guests as you can to participate to get the send off effect!
Tip #6: WALK DON’T RUN!
So…. I understand it can be kinda dunting going in-between fiery sticks of flame, but you need make the most of it. If you run down the row of guests your photographer will not have enough time to capture as many photos as you may have hoped for. 2-3 mins may not sound like a long time, but trust me as long as you walk down, take your time and enjoy the moment together you will get plenty of photos! Mini Tip: Make sure you stop and kiss each other MULTIPLE times down your walk, maybe even a twirl or a dip, also remember to look at each other.
Tip #7: HAVE FUNNNNNNNN!
Have fun with this, it may be kinda scary, but as long as you make sure you organize everything before with all the people you need to, and you get the appropriate items needed, it’s honestly one of the most memorable things you could do at the end of your night for you and your guests. Plus in my opinion it makes some killer photos!!
